Let's be honest, Makita wins hands down. Just as good of quality as the Festool, but not as expensive.

lol, so the winning saw gets the nod for something that is not the saw.....? OK. Then Ryobi and co gets a nod because it's part of a priority battery group yet Kerg and Rigid get pinged for their proprietary rail. The logic here is , well, missing, just subjective nonsense.

If you're afraid of people stealing your tools, buy a ryobi. Won't be as bad replacing them as it would be with a bigger name brand

I dove right in and Carbide Create seemed a bit more organized like my brain is. But, I went Onefinity for my workhorse machine which comes with the first year of Carveco Maker as part of the package. It definitely IS NOT arranged like my brain is, but most packaged projects you will buy or get for free seem to include Carveco and/or Vectric project files. Tearing off that band-aid, though it is tough. I'll get there!

The primary reason I bought the Festool is the anti-kickback sensor. I am a DIYer so I don't use that tool that often and stupid can kick in and this is what that function is for: to protect myself from stupid. It has done that job on numerous occasions since I bought it about 2 years ago. My Festool track saw did come with two chargers so both batteries can be charged simultaneously. I don't have any other Festool products and I don't care about battery platforms. I have a lot of Ryobi 18V tools, as well as Makita, and one sole DeWalt tool. I buy the best product for me and platform figures very little in the decision making.

I bought a used xcarve last weekend from a guy in Hot Springs. The Easel software is quick, but not horribly powerful. Carbide3D has taught me more in an hour than in a week of playing around in Easel!!

"Moisture is heavier than air, so a lot of times, it's going to fall and settle on your concrete..." No. Look up "hygric buoyancy" --- humid air rises. That being said, unsealed concrete WILL absorb water like a sponge from the ground. It'll even absorb moisture from the air, but most of it will be from the concrete-dirt interface.

I just bought this combo. I was similarly dis appointed with performance as a joiner. I assumed it was lack of experience on my part. Perhaps it's time to take a look at hacking my table saw (same brand) for joining.

I became familiar with Ryobi 15+ years ago upon seeing one of their string trimmers in HD: a 24 volt workhorse. I have used a big Craftsman (Husqavarna) gas trimmer many years, the switched to the Featherlite for a number of years. Seeing the Ryobi at a super good price I succumbed to the temptation to ditch the gas machines because of noise and gas fumes. The Ryobi served me well for at least 10 years, requiring a motor replacement, which was only $20 and an easy job. The main problem with that was finding a reasonably priced battery as the batteries were near end of life. Ryobi solved that problem by offering another line of trimmers at a very reasonable price AND with battery support of the 18+ One platform. That made a lot of sense and encouraged me to purchase more tools using that platform. All my Ryobi tools and batteries were purchased during special promotions. I acquired a good inventory of 4 ah batteries with offers of a free tool with a 2 pack of batteries for $99. I am an advanced diy so these tools are good for me. I do have a Craftsman Radial Arm saw and other heavy duty machines for major projects. Ryobi saw a good market and went after it with a good strategy.

Larger saws will have an adjustable fence, that you can adjust back, to an area before the blade. You don't want a loose piece of anything hanging around the saw table, so clamp a piece to the fence, don't just place that steel spacer there.

I am using both, Makita and Milwaukee 18v/36v systems in my workshop and garden, simply because by doing so I have more to choose from and both companies do some tools better than the other. For example, Makita has very nice garden tools, Milwaukee has better nail guns. If any tool i need is made well by either, then I just go for the one which costs less.

On the plus side is the push button depth adjustment. Makes doing a scoring cut then quickly changing to full depth quick. On the downside is the proprietary track. I have Festool tracks, I can use my Makita or Festool saws on those tracks. That means I'll never own a Ridgid track saw. I think the anti tip feature is a bit of a gimmick. The Makita has that. If you're cutting at 45 you still need to use extra force and 2 hands to make sure your cut is accurate. Doing a one-handed 45 cut the track will bow and the cut will be whacked.
